December 7th and 8th!

Holy cow! What a busy weekend! Saturday was my ladies brunch at the Solid Rock Church (which I had to take the boys to, but my friend Kim was amazing with them-a blessing since Carve doesn't like people he doesn't see often) and then we came back home for a slight break and crafts (I didn't forget) and then back to Swan to drop the boys with Kim so I could head on over to the Credit Union Christmas party where my team won the game and I got to take home a flat screen, wall mounted fireplace (which is going in the bedroom!).  Then, today, we erected the tree, flew back to Swan for the Credit Union kid's bowling Christmas party where we randomly adopted a rottweiler cross puppy (don't ask), and the kids sat with Santa and got some cool stuff).  Then we came home for a ton of baking (my cookie exchange is tomorrow), tree decorating, and crafts.  Wow!
So, on the 7th, our Christmas craft was footprint reindeer, our activity was to light a candle in the window, per the tradition of lighting one at Christmas to light the way for family members who were far away for the holidays, and our Christmas books were Jingle Bells, Why I Love Christmas, and Satomi Ichikawa's Merry Christmas (which focus' on different Christmas' around the world).  We're reading sections of this book every day until Christmas.
I didn't have free hands to capture the foot printing or the thumbprint red nose, but here Landon is putting googly eyes on his reindeer!
And here he is putting some on for his brother!
 The finished product.
Here's Carver, looking cute with his one bare foot that he used for stamping.
Landon helped me etch some Christmas images onto the candle for our lit window.
He loved the Credit Card...I will always be poor.
 Christmas bells.
Jingle Bells- a cute Little Golden Book about a bear family who helps Santa deliver his toys in a one horse open sleigh because his reindeer are sick, Why I Love Christmas is a soft feel book, and Merry Christmas is about worldwide holidays.  The first section today was about The First Christmas.
Glowing away (I had to light it pretty late so I think it only was lit for twenty minutes!

For December 8th (today), our Christmas craft was to decorate our own wrapping paper, our Christmas activity was trimming the tree, and our Christmas book was another section of Merry Christmas and two chapter of a super cute new book called The Return of Light by Dia Calhoun.

The boys finger painting their already stickered wrapping paper.
Carver getting in on the action.
Playing with this new mega blocks while we trim the tree.
Landon was very helpful with decorating.
 The grand finale
 The beautiful end result.
In Merry Christmas we read about Christmas traditions in England and the United States and The Return of Light is a short Chapter Book about the Christmas Deer who touches mature trees and grants them their Christmas destiny of becoming a Christmas Tree.  In the first two chapters, the Deer touched Treewing (who was a year away from his destiny) and he was taken away to bring light to someone's house but because he was taken early, he knows his purpose is special.
 The finished product!
